Lifestyle House Party Etiquette
A lifestyle house party runs on the host's goodwill — it's their home, their guest list, their rules. That intimacy means the etiquette is tighter than at a club. Here's how to be the guest who keeps getting invited.
Respect the RSVP
- RSVP clearly and on time. Maybe is not an answer.
- Don't bring uninvited guests. Ever. The guest list is curated for a reason.
- Show up when you said you would. Not two hours late, not surprisingly early.
Follow the house rules
The host sent them for a reason: start time, theme, what to bring, which rooms are play rooms, quiet hours for the neighbors. Read and follow them. If something's unclear, ask — don't guess.
Bring something
A bottle to share, your own cup, a small gift for the hosts. Showing up empty-handed to a house party is a small thing that gets noticed.
Phones away
More than at a club, phones at a house party are a trust violation — you're in someone's home. Keep it put away, especially anywhere near a play area.
Play room rules
- Always ask before entering or joining.
- Closed door = private scene. Don't knock unless invited.
- Use the supplies; clean up after yourself.
- Don't monopolize the play room. Share the space.
Discretion is everything
What happens at the party stays at the party. Never out a guest, never name names outside the group, never post a photo. The host's home and guest list are sacred. Read our privacy guide.
Be a gracious guest
- Help a little — clear a few glasses, offer to restock ice.
- Don't get sloppy. A buzz is fine; drunk in someone's home is not.
- Say thank you — that night, and a quick message the next day.
- Don't overstay. When the energy winds down, wind down too.
The best house-party guests make the host's night easier, not harder. Be that guest, and your social calendar in the lifestyle fills up fast.
