Hotel Takeover Checklist

A hotel takeover is when a lifestyle group reserves an entire hotel — or a large block of rooms — for a private weekend of socializing and play. They're among the most popular lifestyle events because they combine a getaway with a controlled, private environment.

Most takeovers run Friday through Sunday and include a mix of meet-and-greets, themed parties, pool time, and late-night play rooms. The host group sets the rules and the vibe, so read the event details before you arrive.

Expect a dress code for evening events — often theme nights like "black and sexy" or "pineapple night." Daytime is usually casual, with swimwear by the pool. Pack accordingly.

Play rooms are typically designated floors or suites with sheets, towels, and condoms provided. Consent rules are strictly enforced: always ask, always respect no, and never enter a play space uninvited.

Takeovers are what you make of them. You can play every night or simply enjoy a vacation among like-minded couples — both are completely normal. Many couples attend their first takeover just to socialize and watch.

A few essentials: bring a custom door sign to signal you're open to visitors, a party game to break the ice in your room, and your own engraved drinkware so your cup is never in question. Introduce yourselves early in the weekend, tip the hotel staff generously, and keep noise down in the hallways. Discretion outside the event space keeps takeovers welcome at the hotel.

Above all, communicate with your partner throughout the weekend. Check in, share what you enjoyed, and adjust your plans together. A great takeover brings you closer — that's the whole point.
