Tampa Bay Lifestyle Travel Guide

Florida's Gulf Coast lifestyle hub — upscale on-premise club nights, two legendary clothing-optional resorts, and Gulf beaches across Tampa, St. Pete and Clearwater.

Last verified Aug 2026

Tampa Bay is Florida's Gulf Coast lifestyle hub — a fly-in market that pairs an upscale on-premise club (Eyz Wide Shut) with two of the country's best-known clothing-optional lifestyle resorts (Caliente Club & Resorts and Paradise Lakes Resort) in the Pasco County corridor north of Tampa.

The Tampa Bay area covers several distinct travel areas: Tampa and historic Ybor City for nightlife, St. Petersburg for downtown arts and dining, and Clearwater Beach and St. Pete Beach for Gulf sand and resort stays. Not every area has lifestyle-specific venues — THS helps you understand where to stay, which areas are convenient, what lifestyle venues and events exist, and how to plan the whole trip.

Planning your Tampa Bay trip

When to go: October–May is ideal — warm, dry and low-humidity. Summer afternoons bring thunderstorms but also the busiest pool-party season at the resorts. Avoid hurricane-season peaks (Sept–Oct) for trip certainty if you're flying in.

Trip length: A long weekend (Fri–Sun) covers it: a Saturday night at Eyz Wide Shut plus a full pool day at Caliente or Paradise Lakes. Add a beach day on St. Pete Beach or Clearwater if you can.

Booking lead time: Reserve resort day passes/rooms a week ahead for weekend pool events; Eyz Wide Shut memberships and event tickets can sell out for big-theme Saturday nights — book a week or two ahead.

Budget: ~$50–80/couple for a club night at Eyz Wide Shut plus BYOB; resort day passes ~$40–60/couple, rooms $200–350/night (Caliente premium). Tampa and St. Pete Beach hotels run $150–300/night in season.

Where to stay near Tampa Bay lifestyle venues

Match your stay to your anchor. Club night at Eyz Wide Shut (East Tampa): stay Downtown or in Ybor City for 10–15 minute access and walkable nightlife. Resort pool day at Caliente or Paradise Lakes (Pasco County, north of Tampa): book a room on-site at either resort and you won't need a car. Beach-plus-club combo: St. Pete Beach or Clearwater Beach give you a Gulf beach vacation 30–45 minutes from the club. Ordinary Tampa and beach hotels are not lifestyle venues — the only clothing-optional stays in the market are Caliente and Paradise Lakes.

Before the party: Tampa Bay date-night & dinner ideas

Tampa: Bern's Steak House (iconic, South Tampa), Columbia Restaurant (Ybor City, Spanish/Cuban, since 1905), Ulele (waterfront). St. Pete: The Canopy, FarmTable Cider, Central Avenue cocktail bars. Clearwater: Bob Heilman's Beachcomber, Cristino's. For a pre-club group dinner, pick something within 15 minutes of Eyz Wide Shut and book early — Tampa dinner crowds run late on weekends.

Bars & nightlife

Ybor City is Tampa's historic nightlife district (bars and clubs), and the SoHo (South Howard) strip is the mainstream club scene. St. Pete's Central Avenue has a growing cocktail-bar crawl. Eyz Wide Shut's themed nights are the lifestyle anchor; Caliente and Paradise Lakes host weekend pool-party nightlife.

Nearby attractions for daytime

Daytime: St. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach (two of Florida's best), the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Ybor City historic walking tour, the Tampa Riverwalk and Florida Aquarium, a sunset pier walk. Many couples pair a Saturday club night with a Sunday beach day.

  • Downtime and a late lunch.
  • Group dinner within ~15 minutes of your evening plans.
  • An event or club night — check the events calendar for takeovers and socials.

Sunday

  • Brunch and a waterfront or beach walk.
  • Checkout and departure.

This is only a sample itinerary — confirm event dates and venue hours directly before you travel.

What to pack

Two outfits: upscale clubwear for Eyz Wide Shut (dress to impress, theme nights common) and a resort/pool look for Caliente or Paradise Lakes. Women: cocktail or sexy resort wear; men: button-downs and slacks (no shorts/athletic wear at the club). Bring BYOB if the club night requires it; swimwear is optional at the clothing-optional resorts. Sunscreen, sandals, a light cover-up, condoms/lube, and a small lockable bag.

Flying into Tampa Bay

Tampa International Airport (TPA) is the principal airport for most Tampa Bay visitors — closest to Downtown Tampa, Ybor City and Eyz Wide Shut, and about an hour's drive to the beach communities. It has the widest flight availability.

St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) sits between St. Petersburg and Clearwater and can be convenient if you're staying on the beaches or in St. Pete — but it serves a smaller set of carriers and routes.

Flight availability differs by airline and season; compare TPA and PIE for your origin and lodging location rather than assuming one is always better.

Getting around Tampa Bay

Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) works well across Tampa, St. Pete and Clearwater; allow 30–45 minutes from beach hotels to Eyz Wide Shut in East Tampa, and 40–50 minutes from Tampa to the Pasco County resorts. A rental car is useful for a beach-plus-resort weekend, but parking at Eyz Wide Shut is limited — rideshare on club night is simpler.

Tampa Bay is a multi-city metro: Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg are not walkable from one another, and the Courtney Campbell and Howard Frankland bridges connect them. There's no useful rail. Plan rides between areas in advance, especially on weekends.

Lifestyle travel tips

  • Verify venue and event rules before attending — dress codes, membership, couples/singles policies and theme nights vary by night.
  • Confirm ID and membership requirements — most clubs are 21+ and membership-only; bring valid ID.
  • Check hotel visitor policies — THS does not assume a hotel permits parties, outside guests or lifestyle activity. Confirm current policies directly with the property before booking.
  • Plan transportation before drinking — rideshare on club nights; don't drive after drinking.
  • Protect your privacy when sharing travel plans and photos.
  • Make reservations for major weekends — resort rooms and club event tickets sell out around holidays and big-theme nights.
  • Confirm event dates directly with the venue or organizer before booking non-refundable travel.

Local laws & important considerations

Florida's public indecency laws apply outside licensed venues — clothing-optional is legal only at the resort properties (Caliente, Paradise Lakes), never on public beaches. Eyz Wide Shut is a licensed private club; behavior permitted inside is illegal in public, including beaches and cars. Drinking age 21; carry ID. Recreational cannabis is not legal in Florida — don't bring it. Rideshare, not driving, after drinking.
